Quando usar IN, ON ou AT?

Essa é uma dúvida que assola muita gente. Quando devo usar IN? Quando devo usar ON? E quando devo usar AT? Qual está certo? IN Monday, ON Monday ou AT Monday?

Nesse artigo vamos cobrir as diferenças do IN, ON e AT para falar de TEMPO:

A regra geral para te orientar é: Use IN é para situações mais gerais, ON para um pouco mais específicas, e AT para super específicas! Veja:

IN:

Use IN com:

– meses do ano: This product will be launched in October.

– anos: Our company was founded in 1999.

– periodos do ano: We’ll revise this in the second semester.

– estações: The project will start in summer.

– partes do dia (exceto noite): We had a meeting in the morning.

– para falar de um periodo de tempo, com sentido de “daqui a”, “dentro de”: We believe this software will be developed in 4 months.

Mais exemplos:

– The contract ends in August.

– She created this product in 2011.

– They’ve decided to raise the prices in the third quarter.

– They only make this product in winter.

– Shall we talk about this in the afternoon?

– He completed the task in 4 hours.

ON:

Use ON com:

– dias da semana: We always meet on Fridays.

– datas (dias / dia e mês / dia, mês e ano): They are coming on the 22nd.

Mais exemplos:

– She has English classes on Wednesdays.

– He will visit us on Tuesday.

– I’ll be flying on Nov 3rd.

– The contract was signed on Jun 7th, 2017.

AT:

Use AT com:

– horas: The call starts at 4 pm.

– night: I don’t eat much at night.

– datas comemorativas: We always have a big celebration at Christmas.

Mais exemplos:

– I usually wake up at 6.30 am.

– They always travel at Easter.

OBS 1: Weekend:

Inglês americano, usa-se ON / inglês britânico, usa-se AT:

Our office is closed on weekends. (US)

Our office is closet at weekends. (UK)

OBS 2: Quando houver: THIS, THAT, SOME, EACH, LAST, NEXT, PREVIOUS, EVERY, ANY, ALL, não precisa de preposição:

– We’ll discuss this topic next Friday. (errado: “on next Friday”)

– I talked to her last Monday. (errado: “on last Monday”)
